We are presently passing through Kali Yuga (Dark Age, metal age). Mesmerized by glare of worldly riches, dominated by a bloated ego most human beings world over were after fruits of karma performed. In absence of fruits, the motivation to perform would vanish. It was only in field of spirituality one traveled path of nishkama karma yoga, offering fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time. The teachings of Bhagavad Gita were never meant for physical manifest life. Most teachings contained in Bhagwan Gita were directed towards seekers, travelers of spiritual path. Those dominated by desires, wishes must never indulge in teachings of Bhagavad Gita ever.
It was purely a matter of perception. In Satyuga (golden era) the situation was exactly opposite. Most human beings never cared for fruits of karma performed. A pot of gold found lying in the backyard would not find a claimant. Which path to travel was purely our sole prerogative!
