One who can clarify our spiritual queries (especially lying on a cot) was a perfect spiritual guru… the likes of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa or Maharishi Ramana. Those living in palatial ashrams (hermitages), surrounded by hordes of so-called followers… can they be considered competent to solve our queries in totality? So-called religious or spiritual preceptors who had yet to understand meaning of spirituality… were they competent enough to impart jnana wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita?
It would not be imprudent to say… on path of pure spirituality spiritual gurus did not exist as everything comes from within. Lord Krishna existing in our heart as our soul atman was the best guide. We must indulge in path of truthfulness to hear sweet small promptings of soul atman coming from within all the time. At any given moment of time we could hear voice of soul atman or our ego.
For a seeker it was necessary to subdue our ego in totality… only then we could hear sweet small promptings of soul atman coming from within.
