The ultimate goal of life in human form was becoming a pure soul atman forever. This becomes possible when traveling path of spirituality human beings gained enlightenment in their lifetime. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita, we were primarily a spirit, consciousness existing in our heart. We were a spiritual being manifesting human form. As a soul atman we manifest human form to work out our karma, remove dross impurities within. Indulging in spirituality, path of truthfulness… contemplation, logical reasoning, introspection… one finally emancipates forever from cycle of birth and death.
When one reaches higher realms of spirituality, we experienced intermittent stages of total tranquility, serenity… inner peace that could never be expressed in words. When dross impurities within our soul atman removed completely, permanent inner peace takes over.
