If indulgence in yoga meditation was that easy why would God Almighty ordain a long journey of 1.1 million manifestations in human form to reach stage of enlightenment and finally moksha salvation? Truly, enlightenment is never gained that easily… prime reason why in the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in gaining enlightenment.
If indulgence in yoga meditation could be defined then Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed would definitely have left step-by-step instructions for mankind to follow the same.
Yoga meditation is primarily indulged via path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning. Unless we indulge in path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom)… we could never reach the hidden underlying cosmic truths contained in scriptures of different religions of world. It has rightly been said, as many human beings… as many different paths to God Almighty can there be. As the means available, accordingly the spiritual journey!
If one needs to go from Chicago to New York… one could take a flight, a bus ride or go by car. One who could not afford even a bus ride could walk the whole way on foot. Goal was reaching New York; we could do it either way. In the field of pure spirituality… as our intellect (buddhi), the control of ego on us accordingly the manifestation of spiritual journey! The best part of spiritual journey always was… one could indulge in path of spirituality even in absence of basic facilities.
In the domain of God all were equal. All were given equal rights to undertake spiritual journey to reach him. There were no privileges ever in the journey of spirituality. If a spiritual master claimed otherwise, we were feigning ignorance and delaying our journey.
The most troublesome part of spiritual journey was indulgence in contemplation which most people worldwide never wanted to do. Living in a world of make-believe, pretence all indulged in religious pursuits of life that carried no meaning in the world of spirituality.
If we truly desire gaining enlightenment in present life… our indulgence in introspection, contemplation… logical reasoning all the time was necessitated. Prime reason why journey of spirituality is always traveled all alone! We can always consult like-minded people (indulge in Satsanga) still; contemplation was to be done all alone. The most an enlightened one could do was guide us, nothing more.
So many people queued up to Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana but none gained enlightenment in their lifetime. The capability to contemplate, indulging introspection existed in Swami Vivekananda but this man did not want to gain enlightenment in his lifetime. When Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa asked him why he had come to him if his goal of life was not enlightenment he politely replied, only to affirm presence of God Almighty. All his life Swami Vivekananda indulged in public service and in that he truly excelled.
The no thoughts stage is called the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi in Hinduism (State of absolute nothingness) when not a single thought flowed to our brain uninvoked. The state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi is reached when our kundalini awakened fully, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine. Apart from indulgence in yoga meditation via path of contemplation… practice of absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation was necessitated for full awakening of kundalini shakti.
