We developed absolute concentration only if we had a definite goal in life. Only then we could channelize all our energies behind that single goal of life.
Thousands of thoughts flowed through our brain every second of life. Establishing graduate control over five senses and ego (Aham in Hinduism) we reduced the flow of thoughts to our brain. Lesser the invocation of thoughts, greater our power of concentration!
