Indulging in scriptures literally does not mean anything! We must always indulge in scriptures via path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning! Ritual recitation of shlokas was totally meaningless.
Every single shloka of Bhagavad Gita was independent of other. Indulgence in scriptures, teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita was to realize self, god in present life time. Half-hearted indulgence leads nowhere. We must indulge in teachings of Bhagavad Gita only if our goal of life was spiritual!
Those indulging in material pursuits of life must never indulge in path of spirituality. I know many who indulged in spirituality only to quit midway. This only leads to severe depression.
