The Concept of Eternal Life is a total Misnomer

The concept of eternal life is a total misnomer. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads every soul atman had a maximum of 8.4 million manifestations and an earthly journey of 96.4 million years to reach stage of absolute purity. This stage is reached when human beings gained enlightenment in their lifetime to become a Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or prophet Mohammed. The moment an enlightened one left mortal frame one gained moksha salvation forever!

The purified soul atman finally gains entry into kingdom of God (Vaikuntha in Hinduism).

The concept of heaven and hell has been explicitly detailed in Bhagavad Gita. None could go to heaven or hell bodily. Heaven or hell (swarga or naraka) both existed in sun, heaven in the core of sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade. It was in such high temperatures our soul atman felt comfortable. Hell existed in periphery of sun where temperatures were considerably less. It was in such low temperatures our soul atman suffered for eternity.

Heaven and hell act as place of hibernation for souls atmans. After occurrence of death on mother earth, the released soul atman immediately manifests a new body based on residual balance of karma at the time of death. If matching parents are not available on mother earth, the soul atman hibernates in heaven or hell. In heaven if the residual balance of karma was positive and hell, if negative! The crux of life as detailed in Bhagavad Gita was straight and clear. Gain enlightenment in present life to complete circle of life. To prevent our soul atman suffering in hell we must indulge in good karma, positive karma all the time to neutralize negative residual balance of karma from previous manifestations.

The fear of hell created by religious preachers is pure blasphemy. No such thing existed in hell. To prevent people from indulgence in negative karma, sages of earlier era created this precept. But it was only a guideline for commoners, masses… a deterrent towards indulgence in evil. But in present times we find most people indulging in negativity world over, the prime cause for all depression and anxiety.
