Age is the most important factor on path of pure spirituality. Those who succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment in their lifetime started young. Still, this should not dissuade us from traveling spiritual path as at whatever level we leave in present manifestation, we shall start the next journey from the very same level.
Reaching stage of moksha salvation means, we as a soul atman reaching stage of absolute purity! Enlightenment was the end result but spiritual travelers were never after enlightenment. They worked for welfare of mankind all the time from beginning of life. As we indulged in welfare of mankind all the time, God Almighty endowed on us enlightenment at the end of journey.
Merely indulging in Bhagavad Gita or Upanishads, even Vedas could not give us stage of enlightenment. Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed… all worked tirelessly for the benefit of mankind all the time. Spirituality demands our indulgence in contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning to unveil hidden underlying cosmic truths contained in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. We need establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. 100% truthfulness needs to be followed all the time. 100% faith in God Almighty was an absolute must (termed shraddha in Hinduism). 12 years practice of absolute celibacy was necessitated for full awakening of kundalini shakti, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine. We need becoming a Swami Vivekananda to reach stage of enlightenment. Only then we could negate our karma to zero.
