Feelings of spirituality always were inborn. Whether we would live spiritual life or religious depends on residual balance of karma of the moment. Human beings were exclusive masters of their destiny. We can take charge of life provided we could subdue our ego, desires and wishes.
If we desire traveling path of spirituality than we must remember one thing! Path of spirituality always was one-sided. Having traversed ahead, chances of returning to material mode of life were nil. I know many who indulged in spirituality only to quit midway and became serious patients of depression.
Path of spirituality demands highest level of perfection, patience, persistence… perseverance that could ever be practiced by human beings. We need traveling path of jnana yoga and nishkama karma yoga. We need establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. Practice of absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation was necessitated for full awakening of kundalini shakti.
Indulgence in yoga meditation was another necessity. Which means indulging in contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning to reach inner meaning of sacred texts of different religions of world. If we could do all that, then go ahead full thrust!
