Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says all Offerings Worship must be Directly Rendered to One and Only God Brahman never Hordes of Gods and Goddesses

Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita explicitly says that all offerings, worship must be directly rendered to one and only God, Brahman in Hinduism… all the hordes of gods and goddesses only being attributes of God Almighty, a medium for human beings to indulge in prayers.

For commoners, masses to indulge in Nirakaar form of God (having no form) was inconceivable, religious pundits of different era devised these hordes of gods and goddesses. One interested in money and wealth worshipped goddess Lakshmi, those desiring all-around welfare Lord Ganesha. Those giving importance to air worshipped Vayu Devta and believers of rain worshipped God Varuna.

As the means available, accordingly the worship offered!
