Death as detailed in scriptures of Hinduism was but a medium for soul atman to change from one manifestation to another. As the master and controller of human life always was our soul atman, the act of death was as simple as changing of guards at Buckingham Palace. The residual balance of karma at the time of death becomes governing for manifesting new life form. The closing balance of present life becomes the opening balance for next manifestation. Death of physical manifest form was inevitable in cosmic system. Something that was indestructible was our soul atman, the real self within.
To marry or not to marry was our sole prerogative having nothing to do with cosmic journey of life. All earthly relationships remained limited to present manifest form.
The goal of human life always was reaching stage of enlightenment, gaining emancipation from cycle of birth at the earliest.
