Metaphorically Lord Krishna represents soul atman existing within living beings including human body. Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita is depicted as sarthi (charioteer) of the chariot (human body) owned by Arjuna. The essence of Bhagavad Gita is… human beings could reach stage of enlightenment with the help of Lord Krishna within, never otherwise! Unless human beings followed teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita, none on mother earth could gain enlightenment!
For a soul atman to manifest life in cosmos, life supporting planets like mother earth was necessitated. Sooner mother earth took shape and became conducive to start of life, souls atmans started manifesting body after another. In absence of life supporting planets like mother earth all souls atmans in cosmos would remain inert unable to manifest themselves; clean themselves of dross impurities within! The role of mother earth for a soul atman was immense without which souls atmans would just exist!
For a soul atman to reach stage of absolute purity, emancipate forever from cycle of birth and death… life supporting planets like mother earth was necessitated. Radha Metaphorically represents mother earth in absence of which Lord Krishna could not regain its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form. As Radha helps Lord Krishna shape life on mother earth, reach cosmic end of life… it is given precedence over Rukmini, the physical manifest consort partner of Lord Krishna.
In terms of spirituality, the physical manifest form was but a medium for soul atman to cleanse self of dross impurities within. As all human beings on mother earth were primarily a spirit, soul atman existing in human body, it was but natural that Radha was given precedence over Rukmini.
