If we can distinguish spirituality from religion (path of rituals)… 50% of our spiritual journey is complete. Spirituality demands our indulgence in scriptures and that could not be done literally. Only by traveling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) could we realize hidden inner truths of life contained in scriptures of different religions of world. Path of jnana yoga demands indulgence in contemplation.
We also need traveling path of nishkama karma yoga… working for welfare of mankind all the time. Our faith in God Almighty must be absolute 100% termed shraddha in Hinduism. We must be willing to travel path of truthfulness 100%. Spirituality demands lessening desires and wishes gradually… subduing ego in totality termed Aham in Hinduism.
Spirituality also demands practice of absolute celibacy… only then we could awaken our kundalini shakti fully. If we could do all above gradually step-by-step… we could scale higher realms of spirituality. Initially everything seems difficult but with passage of time we become masters of physical manifest life slowly realizing our true inner self existing in our heart as our soul atman, the spirit within.
