As detailed in Hinduism scriptures the present journey of life was undertaken by our soul atman, consciousness existing in our heart. To cleanse self of dross impurities within every soul atman needs manifesting a chain of bodies totaling 8.4 million. The journey starts with a soul atman manifesting form of amoeba (single cell formation), the first manifestation in cosmic life cycle. It further evolves into multi-cell formation, insect life, plant life, animal life and finally the human form.
It was only in human form a soul atman finally reaches last leg of cosmic life, 8.4 millionth manifestation… the stage when human beings finally gained enlightenment! Journey in human form was the most pleasant experience for a soul atman. In human form itself a soul atman manifests a maximum of 1.1 million bodies. The human form primarily was a medium for soul atman within to work out its karma, reach stage of absolute purity forever.
Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says we were a spiritual being, a spirit manifesting human form.
