Life evolves in cosmic life cycle in stages. First came yogis in erstwhile Bharatvarsha (now India) and the religion at large was called Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma). Lord Krishna advent about 3650 years before now! About 1650 years later was born Jesus Christ and his teachings termed Christianity, and followers Christians. A few centuries later to coming of Jesus Christ advent Prophet Mohammed and his teachings called Islamic Dharma and the followers Muslims.
All the religions like Jainism, Christianity… Islamic Dharma evolved after enlightened ones.
