If I need a bout of fresh air and am going climbing a mountain top then do I ask… which first?
Indulging in yoga meditation means indulging in path of contemplation, logical reasoning… self enquiry and the best time to do it were – during morning walk or during bedtime lying in shavasna pose of yoga.
I followed both at most times. Both times I was comparatively free from hustle and bustle of society. For contemplation, self enquiry we definitely need a forlorn secluded place. (It is a different matter that in later stages of life I always indulged in contemplation, logical reasoning in the busiest squares of my town).
During my morning walk I initially indulged in breathing technique. Simultaneously I indulged in contemplation, logical reasoning… self enquiry. I was in a bit of hurry. I wanted all my queries within to subside at the earliest. Talking to enlightened ones all the time became my forte.
What is contemplation… path of logical reasoning? Every second thousands of thoughts flowed through our brain. Every single thought resulted from our residual balance of karma of that moment. If we were thinking about profession then all types of thoughts relating to profession barged in.
If I was thinking about spirituality then all types of queries confronted me. It was in these moments I invoked powers of enlightened ones like Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa or Maharishi Ramana. I used to think if Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa faced same queries what would he do in present circumstances. Contemplating, finding a solution I finally realized the answer. It was that simple. Was it? Yes, it was!
Whenever stuck with a query I used to think who could answer my query the best. If answer to my query lay with Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism) then I would invoke powers of Mahavira to guide me in the spiritual journey of life. I just cannot explain my experiences of spiritual path. There was never a single time when I failed. All these enlightened ones were there for me all the time to answer my queries.
Yoga must not be confused with yogic exercises, a set of daily exercises to keep fit bodily.
