Most Tirthankars Preceptors of Jainism were Kings Who became a Renunciate in favour of Kingdom of God

Travelers of spiritual path not necessarily were broke all the time. Jesus Christ being born in a stable tells all. But most Tirthankars (preceptors) of Jainism were kings who became a renunciate in favour of kingdom of God. They left in search of abstract truths of life leaving everything we called family or community. They were far from Moha (extreme emotional attachment) that bonds family together.

As travelers of spiritual path all the time worked for welfare of mankind, they were always short of money. They also never sought donations. Whatever came their way, they gladly accepted it.

Born in a Jain family, I graduated in civil engineering from the foremost of civil engineering institutes of Asia, the first of its kind. Yet, I was destined to pursue God in this very life. I started my journey very early… six years of age but spiritual path was never a hurdle in my studies, my graduation, my family life! Behind all pursuits of life lay the only goal of life… reach God in this very life and which I did.

It was only grace of God that I completed my spiritual journey even while living in family. Pitfalls on path of pure spirituality were many. I do not remember how many times I had to eat hell for breakfast, how many contemplations of suicide.
