The other side of life… totally distinct from physical manifest self is our true inner self! Our spiritual self residing in our heart as our soul atman, the spirit within was the real master and controller of human life. The physical manifest form was only a medium, a body for soul atman within to work out its karma… remove dross impurities within. From six years of age I believed in this spiritual self of mine. Something all the time fluttered in my heart. Not knowing what it was… I continued my search for god.
Around 12 years of age I finally realized that it must be my spiritual self… me as a soul atman existing in physical body. By remaining truthful all the time I could distinctly hear promptings of my soul atman coming from within. My spirit guide… my own spiritual self ultimately became my guide in the journey of life. Thereafter I never looked back or searched for a spiritual preceptor to guide me in the journey of life.
I also visualized one very important thing. Death carried no meaning for spiritual self. In the domain of spirit, me as a soul atman… death did not exist at all! It was a great relief… I stopped fearing death from now onwards. This true inner self all the time started provoking me to indulge in spirituality… path of contemplation, logical reasoning to reach cosmic truths of life contained in scriptures of different religions of world. 13 years of age I finally decided my ultimate goal of life… reaching God in this very life!
As I progressed ahead on spiritual path I realized that everything relating to spirituality was available in Bhagavad Gita… the sermon given to mankind by Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata. As Lord Krishna was not available physically, I started indulging in teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana… the two spiritual stalwarts who gained enlightenment in their lifetime. At any given moment of time I started living two lives… one by the physical manifest self and other by me as a soul atman, the consciousness within.
